Funny Girl

Wow. Just... wow. Babs was just excellent. I had heard one song from this movie ages ago, and now I know there are two songs that I've known all my life and they are both from this movie. "Don't Rain on My Parade" I always knew was from this movie. But now I know "People" is too. This courageous woman, Fanny Brice, knows she's talented, knows she just needs a chance and she takes a chance and she sings her heart out and she finds a friend who takes a chance on her. And then she gets the applause and the notice of a man named Nick. And then luck follows her to a full-time gig. And then Mr. Ziegfeld. Wow, what a start to her career! And then she takes a chance on Nick, but she never really got to know him. Not the "real" him and his career and what drives him. So marriage, a baby and her career has exploded and his luck has changed. Such a young girl doesn't realize that men can sometimes have a lot of pride. And they must say when they need

Superhero Movie

So, this movie is pretty stupid. But stupid funny. It's a parody on "Spider-Man" and the idea of superhero movies. Kevin Hart is hysterical as the lead's best friend. But the slapstick comedy is very "Airplane" for me, and seeing Leslie Nielson, I kinda figured that's how the movie would go. Some jokes did last a little longer than they should have, but the meat of the movie is the kid, Rick Riker. He tries so hard to be himself, but a dragonfly ruins, or improves, his chances at life. And his chances with Jill Johnson. If someone really likes parodies on Marvel characters, then this is definitely a movie to see. The star-power in this movie is good to see, too: Christopher McDonald, Marion Ross, Keith David, Tracy Morgan, Brent Spiner, Jeffrey Tambor and Robert Hayes. Younger, yes, but still just a talented cast.

Misery

I have never seen this movie and I just had to for the pop culture references I've seen in my life. So fangirl goes crazy over a character, then finds the writer, then takes care of him, and then keeps him hostage. Through all of this I totally loved the Sheriff. I loved him! He was kind, gentle, thoughtful, was a great pair with his wife, but he lacked "back-up." OMG this man should never go places alone! Especially to places where crazy women live! And yeah, that woman was crazy. I love James Caan's eyes when he first realizes it! Kathy won her oscar for movie and I can see why! She's scary! And she's not stupid. She's just obsessed and lonely. I kept screaming at the tv "Have a plan, Paul, you idiot! Have a plan!" I can't believe Stephen King has me yelling at the screen! I'm sure I'm not the only one. But desperation definitely wins out in the end. I hope he learned a valuable lesson from his experience.

Best Man Holiday

I saw a preview for this movie on Youtube of all places and thought "Yeah, ok. I really liked the first movie. Maybe I should see this one." And I rented it from the library and yeah, yeah I totally love it when guys get together. And these idiots! Wow! And how much their lives have changed since the first movie! Christmas time is a perfect time for the family and friends to get together, but man, Lance still has pot-shots to throw at Harper. Yeah, he messed up in the first movie, but man! It's Christmas! Harper is gonna have a baby and the gang is altogether - why not just calm down? The ladies have grown, too, in more ways than one. And they are still good friends: even when bad news hits the group. This movie was just so delightful and I totally loved the music! This is a "must-see"!

Eternals

I have to admit: I slept through the latter part of the movie. I got that Angelina Jolie's character had issues and would attack her own people. I got that the main woman in the beginning was in love with John Snow and had to tell him the truth. I got that the Indian guy was popular in Bollywood and had a chauffeur who follows and records everything. And the big bad creatures that are back eat people. Oh and the druid has an attitude problem. I got to the part where they had a plan, or tried to agree on a plan, and then I fell asleep. There just wasn't a lot to keep me engaged, like most Marvel movies do for me. Angelina was not the character that she was in "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider", nor was she as clever as in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". She wasn't the main character in the end. And I believe there were 10 eternals and this film focused on 6 of them. I think. Yeah, 6 of them. Thena, Sersi, Ikaris, Druij, Gilgamesh and Sprite. So, I guess with the connection

Hotel Transylvania 4

Not a bad movie at all. We were watching this on Prime and the video went fuzzy from time to time in the beginning. We had to come out of the movie and then go back in for it to clear. Otherwise, I totally loved the music in this one! Not a lot of Ericka in this movie and of course a lot of "Don't Tell Mavis" here. I was hoping their son, Dennis, would have been a wee bit older, but eh. Such is the life in cartoons. The adventure takes them to South America and the wildlife that they encounter is pretty sweet! Overall this was about acceptance and I just love the stuff that the gang gets into! And the human version of the guys - hilarious! Especially Murray, who I could have sworn was voiced by Ce-lo Green, but instead by  Keegan-Michael Key. Overall, just very well done by everyone!

Ron's Gone Wrong

This movie was better than I thought it would have been. Barney is just a kid without any friends. And everyone at his school has a B-bot. Just like, in today's world, everyone at school has a cellphone. Everyone is connected to the internet. And every cellphone is watched and connected by a company. And that company has a guy who created the program that everyone loves. And then, one day, Barney gets a B-bot just like everyone else. But something goes wrong. And now, his B-bot "thinks". It's very "Short Circuit" meets "Wall-E." Not only do we follow Barney and Ron, we also follow the story of Savannah and her popularity because of B-bots and Rich with his pranks with B-Bots. The grandmother is one of the best characters from this story, and I can't really place what country she's from, but she's a hoot and she cares so much for her family. This is definitely worth a second view!
