Toy Story 5

 You know - this wasn't too bad. It's not my favorite in the series, but it really wasn't bad. And it starred Jessie, voiced by Joan Cusack, which, I had no idea! I could have sworn it was someone else cause it doesn't sound like Joan! But it was! Jessie and Bullseye are the ones that must find a way to save the day - from Tech! Tech is taking over playtime! Tech has entered Bonnie's world and if she wants to make friends she must use Tech! So how do they save playtime? Are there others out there that have been discarded because of Tech? And will Bonnie's parents be concerned about Tech and Bonnie's friends? This movie touches on so much really: how the internet and children are intwined. How children should trust their parents when things are going on with Tech. But also how Tech can be useful. Also - that in a pinch, old friends can come in handy. To me, the voices sound older but no less fun: Tom Hanks as Woody, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl, John Ratzenberger as Hamm and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear. Got to hear a little of Bo Peep voiced by Annie Potts, but not a lot in this movie. Over all this was just so enjoyable. A lot of action, a lot of suspense, a lot of lessons. Well worth a second viewing.

Michael (2026)

 I guess I was expecting more. I was expecting the abuse. I was expecting the violence. I was expecting the controversy. And I didn't get that. I got music. And yeah, I'm gonna admit that I sang through the movie, yes I did, because I still own "Thriller" on vinyl and I remember listening to it over and over again in my brother's room when he wasn't home. But this movie...I wanted more. I think  Jaafar Jackson did a great job as Michael and his emotion came through very well, but I wanted more from my idol. I was very pleased to see Nia Long as Katherine Jackson. She brought out the tender in that woman completely - a mother who will do whatever is necessary for her family. Good to see Jessica Sula as La Toya Jackson, but I didn't see or hear about Janet at all. Colman Domingo did a good job as Joe Jackson with his facial expressions and domineering Prescence especially with the record executives. But my favorite character in the entire movie was Bill Bray...

Wake Up, Dead Man, A Knives Out Mystery

 Wow! Wow and wow! This was my 2nd favorite next to the original "Knives Out". A priest is re-assigned to a place he never could have been prepared for: the devil is alive and well in the church, on the grounds, in the people and in the plans. Josh Brolin plays Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, the local head priest and "God" to most folks. They don't jump unless he says "how high." There are only a select number of parishioners that stick with his word, as the rest of the congregation is slowly run out by his sermons. But there's a deeper mystery here and Josh O'Connor, who plays Jud Duplenticy, wasn't supposed to be there. A sermon happens, the Monsignor falls, and there is a murder in the church in front of witnesses. So who did it? Or was it more than one person? Or did one person make it look like it was more than one person? So much is going on in this story and then...cops show up. Geraldine Scott, played by Mila Kunis, calls up a professio...

The Gambler: The Adventure Continues

This movie had to do with a different kind of gambling: on people On lives. Poor Brady Hawkes loses his so to an evil man named Charlie. Charlie and his gang hold up a train and a rich man, Stowbridge, was supposed to have money on that train. He didn't. And Charlie and his gang snatch poor Jeremiah and hold onto him until the train makes it to its destination, and a bank, where Stowbridge must hand money over to the gang in order to let Jeremiah live. Brady's not having it. Him and Billy get their own gang together and that includes the beautiful and sly Kate Muldoon. It was so good to see Linda Evans as a tough ol' broad in this movie. I'm so used to seeing her as a beautiful and intelligent woman who marries Blake Carrington on "Dynasty". Altogether they ride and fight and try to figure out a way to get Jeremiah out of Charlie's clutches. It's a good western. I think Kenny Rogers did pretty good with this series.
