The Big Wedding
This movie from 2013 was a pleasant surprise. A man and a woman have three grown children, one that is adopted. The man and woman divorced and the man is in a loving relationship with the woman's best friend and everyone is cool with it. The adopted son, Alejandro, played by Ben Barnes, and his wife to be, Missy, played by "Mama Mia"s own Amanda Seyfried, tell mom Ellie and dad Don, played by Robert De Niro and Diane Keaton (who always wears the same glasses in every movie I see her in), that Alejandro's birth mother, Patricia Rae, will be visiting for the wedding. And she's very Catholic. Doesn't believe in divorce. So for 3 days, Don and Ellie must pretend to be married. This does not sit well with Don's lover, Bebe, played by Susan Sarandon. This is quite the star-studded movie, including the priest played by Robin Williams, and the two siblings, Jared and Lyla, played by Topher Grace and Katherine Heigl. So many different situations just to make Mama Madonna visiting from another country feel ok. Feel that everything is very Catholic and this wedding will go on without a hitch. This movie was a lot of fun. And once in a while, it's good to watch something more "adult".
