The Knight Before Christmas

 Every once in a while, my husband and I find little movies about Christmas that are not main stream. This was one of them. "The Knight Before Christmas" was a cute tale of magic, being in one time, being sent into another time, and finding love when and where you didn't expect it. Brooke, played by Vanessa Hudgens, is a working girl in our time. She is living her life and loving her sister and her niece. Sir Cole, played by Josh Whitehouse, is in another time with his brother and another life. He meets an old crone who sends him off on a magical quest that must be fulfilled before Midnight on Christmas Eve or he will never be a true knight. Sir Cole finds himself in Brooke's time. He is a Knight out of time, with flying steel boxes and magical small boxes that have pictures and sound. He ends up helping the whole family and falling for Brooke. But will he stay in her time to love her? Or will he go back to his time and fulfill his original destiny? It's a special little movie and I'd like to see it again next Christmas. You know - knights and horses and sword fights and all.

Wake Up, Dead Man, A Knives Out Mystery

 Wow! Wow and wow! This was my 2nd favorite next to the original "Knives Out". A priest is re-assigned to a place he never could have been prepared for: the devil is alive and well in the church, on the grounds, in the people and in the plans. Josh Brolin plays Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, the local head priest and "God" to most folks. They don't jump unless he says "how high." There are only a select number of parishioners that stick with his word, as the rest of the congregation is slowly run out by his sermons. But there's a deeper mystery here and Josh O'Connor, who plays Jud Duplenticy, wasn't supposed to be there. A sermon happens, the Monsignor falls, and there is a murder in the church in front of witnesses. So who did it? Or was it more than one person? The Gambler: The Adventure Continues

This movie had to do with a different kind of gambling: on people On lives. Poor Brady Hawkes loses his so to an evil man named Charlie. Charlie and his gang hold up a train and a rich man, Stowbridge, was supposed to have money on that train. He didn't. And Charlie and his gang snatch poor Jeremiah and hold onto him until the train makes it to its destination, and a bank, where Stowbridge must hand money over to the gang in order to let Jeremiah live. Brady's not having it. Him and Billy get their own gang together and that includes the beautiful and sly Kate Muldoon. It was so good to see Linda Evans as a tough ol' broad in this movie. I'm so used to seeing her as a beautiful and intelligent woman who marries Blake Carrington on "Dynasty". Altogether they ride and fight and try to figure out a way to get Jeremiah out of Charlie's clutches. It's a good western. I think Kenny Rogers did pretty good with this series.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society (TV Show)

 I've watched the first episode twice! Not only because my friend, Jason, is in it, but because this is about revenge. Yes, dead things help plants grow! Doesn't matter what died, but something has to die to make things grow. It's a Scorpio thing, really. Four main characters make this so ideal: Alice, played by AnnaSophia Robb, is married, she's a school teacher and she has a golden retriever. But then, the puppy goes missing and her collar shows up. What happened? And who is at fault? Then there is Birdie, played by Melissa Fumero. She's rich, she's married, and she has a secret: she has a drinking problem. Which gets her community service with the Garden Society. On the side, she's got her own secret which involves a teenager. Catherine, played by Aja Naomi King, not only sports some excellent matte lipstick, but with a smokin' body, tries to attract her hard-working husband while getting some action with her colleague, Gary, played by Saamer Usmani. ...
