Elio

This really wasn't a bad movie. I didn't know what to expect from Pixar, but this movie caught my attention within 10 minutes and kept it. Elio lost his parents and his Aunt (which might not be his Aunt?) takes care of him. She's totally lost as to how to take care of a child as she is a career-minded woman who dreams of going into the astronaut program. She's close, but now she has responsibilities. And here is Elio - fascinated with space and exploration. And even sends a message out to the universe that Aliens will come and take him away. He gets his wish and is taken away to the Communiverse where they mistaken him for the Leader of Ah-Earth. The challenge: to find a compromise with Lord Grigon so that he doesn't take the Communiverse by force. In all of this, he befriends Lord Grigon's son, Glordon. Will Elio complete a deal to save the Communiverse? Will the ambassadors figure out that Elio is not the Leader of Ah-Earth? Will Elio make it back home or will he stay in space forever? So many questions and a fun montage with Glordon and Elio as they solidify their friendship. It's sweet. It's the innocence we need right now in the world that very different species can be friends. And proof that parents, in the end, are the saviors for their children. Well done to Pixar for the story, Remy Edgerly for voicing Glordon and Zoe Saldana for voicing Aunt Olga. Well worth a watch or two.
