Thunderbolts

 *sigh* So, yeah, I saw it. It's not the best action movie I've ever seen, but it did have some good points. Like Yelena, the Black Widow. I like her. She's calm, cool, collected. She is all about the job, and then thinking about her life. What she wants. What kind of work she really wants to do. Her humanity is what I like. And her dad, Alexei - I'm sure I've seen the actor, David Harbour, in other things. I wanted his character to be funnier. Maybe Drax funnier. But for me, he was just marginally funny. Ava Starr just looked mad all the time. For me she had no depth of character. John Walker wasn't funny. He was a coward. But he desperately needs his friends. Bucky wasn't humorous at all. He was serious, he was political, but he had a job to do. Mel could have been a good person. She seemed like she wanted to be a good person, but she was working for the wrong side. Sentry was messed up. Poor Bob. Just a guy who wants friends and ends up being an experiment. He's just a regular Joe, really. Valentina is a true Witch. Seriously. She's manipulative and evil and just trying to save her own skin. She's the true villain in the whole movie. Storyline mixed with the memories of the past just didn't WOW it for me. It's an average movie.

 So much hype and marketing has been placed on this movie for months! And I mean MONTHS before it's release. And I finally got to see it. Granted, my husband and I saw the Broadway tour of "Wicked" years ago so I had some comparing to do. I definitely can see the theater crow singing through the whole thing. It's what we do. Cynthia Erivo did a very good and innocent job with Elphaba. She brought an innocence to the character that Idina did on Broadway. Her voice was not "over-the-top" and she hit all the familiar notes just right. Ariana Grande did well as G-linda, and later Glinda, the good. The snobbiness, the self-interest, the power-hungry - just all of it was there. The swishing of the hair was just hysterical. She played the part very well and paired well as a friend to Elphaba. Jonathan Bailey is just deliciously beautiful as Prince Fiyero. All the free fun and interest in other things that got him thrown out of his previous schools is right there. I...

Grosse Pointe Garden Society (TV Show)

 I've watched the first episode twice! Not only because my friend, Jason, is in it, but because this is about revenge. Yes, dead things help plants grow! Doesn't matter what died, but something has to die to make things grow. It's a Scorpio thing, really. Four main characters make this so ideal: Alice, played by AnnaSophia Robb, is married, she's a school teacher and she has a golden retriever. But then, the puppy goes missing and her collar shows up. What happened? And who is at fault? Then there is Birdie, played by Melissa Fumero. She's rich, she's married, and she has a secret: she has a drinking problem. Which gets her community service with the Garden Society. On the side, she's got her own secret which involves a teenager. Catherine, played by Aja Naomi King, not only sports some excellent matte lipstick, but with a smokin' body, tries to attract her hard-working husband while getting some action with her colleague, Gary, played by Saamer Usmani. ...

The Enforcer (1976)

 Harry is back. And now Tyne Daly is his partner. So Harry Callahan is back on the case and now there are a group of people after weapons of mass destruction. And later in the movie they capture the mayor. And true, Harry has had it with politics and politicians, but he still wants to do his job. There  is less nudity in this movie, I noticed. But more blood. The shot to the head on one character was very sudden and direct. To see the type of movie blood they used back then shows how far we've come: the red is shiny and extremely liquidy. Sometimes more orange than red. This movie made me wonder if Harry ever slept. He seems like he's on the go a lot. And he's a good shot, no doubt. Harry always gets his man. This movie is a continuation in the films, I guess, and just goes to show that Harry can't keep a partner.
