Magnum Force (1973)

Actually, the movie states "Clint Eastwood is Dirty Harry in Magnum Force". So, for me, this was a better movie. Harry is still on the outs with everyone that involves the law. And now, he is just stumped - the bad guy are being killed. A vigilante is out to get the bad guys and leave them dead for the cops to find the bodies. The crooks, the pimps, the call girls - all end up dead. And at the same time, the San Francisco PD gains 4 new motorcycle cops. They're a good shot, they are attached to the hip - and they are out for justice. Harry and his new partner, Early Smith, have to find out what's going. What is the real problem? How are the bad guys getting killed? How is the information getting out? The killings are wisely planned with that 80s music that these films love. Hal Holbrook is back as Lt. Neil Briggs. We are introduced to a young Robert Urich as Officer Mike Grimes and David Soul as Officer John Davis. Again, this movie was well done and the mystery was ...

The Dead Pool (1988)

This was an interesting 80s movie. I couldn't believe Jim Carrey and Liam Neeson were in this. The continuing story of Dirty Harry Callahan's career on the west coast with homicide. This time, it's the movies. There's a Dead Pool, where there is a list of possible people who will die. And yes, Harry's partner, Inspector Al Quan, is right: "they die in 3s". True enough, I think that's where this saying started. And the killer does try to kill in 3s in this movie. But he wants Harry as his last victim. Also in this movie, Harry has a potential love interest in reporter Samantha Walker. Harry doesn't seem real interested, but man does he save her life a time or two. And my brothers from other mothers clued me into a scene with a remote control car for this movie - what a way to kill people! But yet, you run out of remote control cars, and you leave wheels behind. It's an interesting movie that shows some drug use from the 80s and shows Harry isn...

Thunderbolts

*sigh* So, yeah, I saw it. It's not the best action movie I've ever seen, but it did have some good points. Like Yelena, the Black Widow. I like her. She's calm, cool, collected. She is all about the job, and then thinking about her life. What she wants. What kind of work she really wants to do. Her humanity is what I like. And her dad, Alexei - I'm sure I've seen the actor, David Harbour, in other things. I wanted his character to be funnier. Maybe Drax funnier. But for me, he was just marginally funny. Ava Starr just looked mad all the time. For me she had no depth of character. John Walker wasn't funny. He was a coward. But he desperately needs his friends. Bucky wasn't humorous at all. He was serious, he was political, but he had a job to do. Mel could have been a good person. She seemed like she wanted to be a good person, but she was working for the wrong side. Sentry was messed up. Poor Bob. Just a guy who wants friends and ends up being an experimen...

The Enforcer (1976)

Harry is back. And now Tyne Daly is his partner. So Harry Callahan is back on the case and now there are a group of people after weapons of mass destruction. And later in the movie they capture the mayor. And true, Harry has had it with politics and politicians, but he still wants to do his job. There  is less nudity in this movie, I noticed. But more blood. The shot to the head on one character was very sudden and direct. To see the type of movie blood they used back then shows how far we've come: the red is shiny and extremely liquidy. Sometimes more orange than red. This movie made me wonder if Harry ever slept. He seems like he's on the go a lot. And he's a good shot, no doubt. Harry always gets his man. This movie is a continuation in the films, I guess, and just goes to show that Harry can't keep a partner.

Dirty Harry

Yup, I'm late to the party. I'm finally watching "Dirty Harry" with Clint Eastwood. And I noticed he said his famous "punk" line twice in the movie. And he shoots without fear. And he gets beaten up. And he's good at his job, but sometimes....sometimes a criminal needs to die. So Clint plays Harry Callahan, a detective, on a case to find a sniper. The sniper wants money, and $100,000 back this is just not a big deal today. Back then, the mayor couldn't figure out how he was gonna get his hands on $100,000. But Harry is put with another partner, Chico Gonzalez, knowing that Harry's past partners end up in the hospital or morgue. The sniper is pretty diabolical for the 80s. He enjoys hurting people and killing people. And Harry is willing to risk his job to put him down. He's not quite Columbo. He's not quite John McClane. He's his own man with a wife who passed away - that tidbit was pretty quick in a conversation he had in the movie....

Emily in Paris (TV)

I have now watched 4 seasons of "Emily in Paris". I didn't know what to expect at first but yeah, I'm hooked. And it's unfair. So unfair that someone so young and pretty can pack up from the U.S., moves to Paris for a job, and can afford an apartment and lunches and trips and everything. I'm so jealous. And had it not been for her cellphone, she wouldn't be this well known or good at her job. Emily lost her boyfriend to Paris, and she's so very into the chef that lives in her building and her new bestie lives with her in Paris and she's got drama of her own. And the men that she falls for in this series all have their own personal issues. Really they all need to talk to the ones they care above. Conversation, open conversation, helps. And the devious woman that loves Gabriel, and the mother of that woman, doesn't help matters. I do like Camille's dad, Gerard. He's a lot of fun. And he pretends like he doesn't know what's going ...

A Minecraft Movie

You know, for someone who's never played Minecraft, this was actually an entertaining movie. A kid and his sister move to a new place, she has a new job and they have to start their lives over again. There's a real estate agent with lots of jobs to make ends meet. There's a video store owner from the 80s who has to make rent. Everyone's broke. Everyone is in dire straits. And then they meet up with Steve. Steve created a world and then told his dog to go save himself while he was captured in another world. Everyone meets up, everyone fights these very scary creatures and no one can defeat the main villain sorceress. So what are they going to do? So much CGI in this movie with live actors, but the story line is pretty cool. Yes, we have memorable songs from Jack Black because they're catchy. My husband thinks the movie is very strange, but I smiled the entire time. It was good to see Emma Myers from "Wednesday" in it and Jennifer Coolidge from "Legall...
