The Wild Robot

 I am completely surprised. I didn't really know what to expect. Maybe something like "The Iron Giant". But 5 minutes into this movie my jaw dropped and I turned to my husband and said "OMG!!!!" Roz is a programmed robot that is supposed to finish its mission and will not lie (kinda like Baymax from "Big Hero 6") and only wants to help. Once it finds the person who ordered it, and accomplishes its mission, it will report back to its base. Only - raccoons. Such thieves, I'm tellin' ya! Raccoons show up after a storm and steal bits and pieces of the robot. What is the robot supposed to do? It finally gets pieces back together but because of the raccoons, the robot is chased by a bear, falls, and keeps falling and an accident happens. Through this accident a baby goose is born. The robot needs to find ways to communicate with the animals around it. And it does. And finds a shorter name for itself than the long name ROZZUM Unit 7134. So, the name is Roz. Roz protects the baby goose from all kinds of things, including Fink. Fink is a fox, and very hungry. Roz has a new mission: feed the kid and help it fly for migration. It's a task, and there's a lot of help on the island, but will they be able to save the goose on time? So many funny moments in this movie. I was just so delighted by the time it ended. Yes, I'll be watching this again! Go Mommy Roz!!!!

 So much hype and marketing has been placed on this movie for months! And I mean MONTHS before it's release. And I finally got to see it. Granted, my husband and I saw the Broadway tour of "Wicked" years ago so I had some comparing to do. I definitely can see the theater crow singing through the whole thing. It's what we do. Cynthia Erivo did a very good and innocent job with Elphaba. She brought an innocence to the character that Idina did on Broadway. Her voice was not "over-the-top" and she hit all the familiar notes just right. Ariana Grande did well as G-linda, and later Glinda, the good. The snobbiness, the self-interest, the power-hungry - just all of it was there. The swishing of the hair was just hysterical. She played the part very well and paired well as a friend to Elphaba. Grosse Pointe Garden Society (TV Show)

 I've watched the first episode twice! Not only because my friend, Jason, is in it, but because this is about revenge. Yes, dead things help plants grow! Doesn't matter what died, but something has to die to make things grow. It's a Scorpio thing, really. Four main characters make this so ideal: Alice, played by AnnaSophia Robb, is married, she's a school teacher and she has a golden retriever. But then, the puppy goes missing and her collar shows up. What happened? And who is at fault? Then there is Birdie, played by Melissa Fumero. She's rich, she's married, and she has a secret: she has a drinking problem. Which gets her community service with the Garden Society. On the side, she's got her own secret which involves a teenager. Catherine, played by Aja Naomi King, not only sports some excellent matte lipstick, but with a smokin' body, tries to attract her hard-working husband while getting some action with her colleague, Gary, played by Saamer Usmani. ...

The American Society of Magical Negroes

 I saw this movie and wanted more. I wanted more of the magical world. I wanted more adventure. I wanted higher stakes. I just wanted - more. A young black artist, Aren, fails to sell his yarn art. Bartender, Roger, notices this young man has a heart and invites him into the world of magic and friendship. Black people from all over the U.S. are in this magical community and they are taught to make sure white people are ok. Because if white people are ok, then black people can be ok. Aren decides to join this magical community and they get him a job. A really NICE job, next to his client: Jason. Aren needs to make sure Jason is ok. Work wise and life wise. And then there comes a woman, Lizzie. Aren met her first, and is smitten. But talking to Jason, Jason has had a crush on Lizzie for a while.
