Splash

I know, I know. It's been a long time since this movie came out. 1984. I know, I know, I should have seen it back then. But I missed out on it. I just watched now. So, a boy jumps in the water at Cape Cod, held hands under water with a little mermaid, and for all his life he remembered that moment. What he didn't know was that the mermaid remembered, too. This was a career-breaking movie for Tom Hanks, for Daryl Hannah, John Candy and even Eugene Levy. There are two sides here: The Madison side with Allen, Madison and Freddie. Or you have the Scientist side with Walter. Madison has so many days on land with two legs to find Allen in Cape Cod. But once the moon comes full again, then she's a mermaid again and has to go back into the water. It's a secret she keeps from Allen. Allen, who loses a girlfriend over the phone at the beginning of the movie. Allen, who just can't say "I love you" but wow! Madison can say it! Madison, who turns back into a mermaid which she takes a bath.  It's interesting to see how many different people in movies have played the president. And how well the security detail gets to the President when Walter comes into the event with a water gun. What I didn't like was that when Madison needed Allen, in her time of crisis, he froze. He just stood there and let others take her away. A shocked coward. But, by the end of the movie, he wised up. Which is nice. It's a decent movie and I'm glad I watched it.
