10 Things I Hate About You

I don't know why it's called "10 things I hate About You" because she, Kat Stratford, played by Julia Stiles, named off more than 10 while standing in the classroom. I'd have to re-visit that scene, but I'm pretty sure it was more than 10. But over-all, I did enjoy this 'Taming of the Shrew' version of a modern movie. Bianca Straford, played by Larisa Oleynik, is not allowed to date unless her sister, Kat does. And the big bad jock, Joey Donner, played by Andrew Keegan, makes a bet with his friend that he can date Bianca and bed her. At the same time, new student, Cameron James, played very well by a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is instantly attracted to Bianca. So, with the help of Cameron's friend, Michael, played by David Krumholtz, they decide to pay someone to date Kat so that Cameron can date Bianca. But who has that kind of money in high school? Well, Joey does. So they get Joey to pay Patrick Verona, played with extreme humor and goof by Heath Ledger, to get Kat to go on a date. Then another date. Then the prom. Only problem is, Patrick falls for Kat, Kat falls for Patrick, and Bianca falls for Cameron. So much teenage angst in this movie mixed with some great 90s music. This was a delight to watch, but yeah, I would have given this a totally different title. OH - and the dad, played by Larry Miller, was very funny as well and self-obsorbed.
