Gus

This was a cute movie! A Yugoslavian lad named Andy has a donkey named Gus. Gus can kick! And when the Atoms football team finds out about the donkey, they recruit Andy and Gus. But Gus will only kick for Andy. Mixed with all this, Charles Gwynn, played by Harold Gould, wants to buy the team. He makes a bet with Coach Hank Cooper, played by Ed Hasner, that if the team loses the Super Bowl, Hank loses the team. So Charles hires Crankcase and Spinner, played by Tim Conway and Tom Bosley, to separate Gus and Andy from the team on several games just so that they lose the team in Charles' favor. And then there's the love interest - Debbie, played by Liberty Williams. It was cute but stereotypical of the time period. It's a 1976 film and everything was pretty predicable. But it was good clean fun.

Splash

I know, I know. It's been a long time since this movie came out. 1984. I know, I know, I should have seen it back then. But I missed out on it. I just watched now. So, a boy jumps in the water at Cape Cod, held hands under water with a little mermaid, and for all his life he remembered that moment. What he didn't know was that the mermaid remembered, too. This was a career-breaking movie for Tom Hanks, for Daryl Hannah, John Candy and even Eugene Levy. There are two sides here: The Madison side with Allen, Madison and Freddie. Or you have the Scientist side with Walter. Madison has so many days on land with two legs to find Allen in Cape Cod. But once the moon comes full again, then she's a mermaid again and has to go back into the water. It's a secret she keeps from Allen. Allen, who loses a girlfriend over the phone at the beginning of the movie. Allen, who just can't say "I love you" but wow! Madison can say it! Madison, who turns back into a mermaid w...

10 Things I Hate About You

I don't know why it's called "10 things I hate About You" because she, Kat Stratford, played by Julia Stiles, named off more than 10 while standing in the classroom. I'd have to re-visit that scene, but I'm pretty sure it was more than 10. But over-all, I did enjoy this 'Taming of the Shrew' version of a modern movie. Bianca Straford, played by Larisa Oleynik, is not allowed to date unless her sister, Kat does. And the big bad jock, Joey Donner, played by Andrew Keegan, makes a bet with his friend that he can date Bianca and bed her. At the same time, new student, Cameron James, played very well by a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is instantly attracted to Bianca. So, with the help of Cameron's friend, Michael, played by David Krumholtz, they decide to pay someone to date Kat so that Cameron can date Bianca. But who has that kind of money in high school? Well, Joey does. So they get Joey to pay Patrick Verona, played with extreme humor and goof by He...
