The School of Good and Evil

OMG! Best friends can do anything! Best friends do not have to be good. They do not have to be evil! They must be best friends! Sisters! Brothers! Both! Best Friends are powerful! That's what I got from this movie! OMG yes and yes! I love whoever wrote this! It's amazing! From the beginning of their friendship to the end! Wow, wow and wow! Sophia Caruso did a great job as Sophia. She's headstrong, knows her fairytales and wants to be a princess. She is good. Her bestie, Agatha, played by Sophia Wylie, is very headstrong as well, and doesn't fully believe in fairytales. But man! She will stand up for her bestie! They are a great team. Charlize Theron is a perfect evil professor and Kerry Washington was a bright and annoying good professor. So many twists and turns in this fun movie! Definitely PG 13 for the language and violence, but yeah! This was good, good and good! I still say Earl Cave, who played Hort, got his acting and facial moves from Eddie Izzard. Kit Young w

Samaritan

This movie has been on my radar for a while. The plot came at me within 10 minutes of the movie, and then hit me without another plot. Sylvester Stallone, even in his later years now, does a fantastic job with the action-movie hero vibe! I can tell he cares for the kid, but tries so hard not to show the world who he really is. But his heart is still evident. Everywhere! The villain reminds me so much of Ewan McGregor, but Pilou Asbaek holds his own. He is ruthless, he is manipulative, but man! I just wanna hate him so bad! Javon Walton does a great job as Sam. He believes in Mr. Smith, his neighbor, and believes he is a hero. He believes it so much but has lost faith in his reality with his mom. And falls in with the wrong crowd. So many relationships, so many dynamics to watch. And the twist near the end? NEVER saw that coming!

The Woman King

Damn, damn and DAMN! This movie!!!! OMG, this movie! I didn't have a dry eye the entire time! And God Bless Kellie and Jason for being there for me for this one, cause...wow! And according to Kellie, this was based on a real story. A child is the first focus of this movie, given to the King to because she refuses to get married. And the 2nd focus is the female general of the army, who wants revenge like nobody's business. Viola Davis kicks major butt as General Nanisca. Lashana Lynch is just creeping AMAZING as Izogie, a warrior who trains the new recruits. John Boyega creates a wonderful King Ghezo and this character is just so different than Fin from "Star Wars" post-quels. Thuso Mbedu is so very cute as Nawi, the 19 year old rebel who wants to fight, but doesn't want to follow orders. Sheila Atim is my favorite! She is #2 in the army and she is so TALL!! OMG is she forever tall! And what a bad-ass! She kicks major butt in battle and doesn't miss a stride!

Werewolf By Night

I'm so surprised with this one. A small movie on Disney Plus called "Werewolf By Night." This was pretty gruesome for Disney, but the ending was very cute. Kinda sweet. The plot of this movie was a hunt: the hunters from around the world gathered to hunt one monster and become the owner of a red stone. Everyone is suspicious of the other and deaths are expected. This movie was well done: no color in the film. The actors did a great job, as did the monster. But the killings are what got me: I'm thinking maybe rated "R" or "PG13" or something cause it was pretty graphic. But there are stories within stories in this movie. It's worth a second viewing.

Hocus Pocus 2

This was a fun movie. Not as good as the original, but it was fun. Three friends must save the town of Salem on Halloween night. The three friends remind me of the Halliwell sisters from the new "Charmed" tv show. One of them, though, is a witch! And she must save them all! The adults, again, do not believe, but one adult does - because he was there so many years ago! I was sad to see the black cat, Binx, did not return in this one. I liked him. Overall, this movie showed me childhood friends can come in handy and that people REALLY need to talk to one another. The young versions of the Sanderson sisters did a great job! I know they had a blast on set! My husband said that Disney did it again: they un-vilify the villains. He misses the days when villains were villains for villain sake. Evil was evil was evil. Disney took this in a different direction. Ah well. It was still a good movie and the music was very clever!
