Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

 Ok, so #1 - Jude Law has the best looking eyes ever! So dreamy! #2 - I have to admit that I'm not buying the love between him and the new Grindelwald. I'm just not. I'm not buying it. Yes, that's the way it is. Yes, that's the story's background. I, me, myself and I, do not buy it. Jude and Mads play that first scene very well, very intense, but I don't buy it. I do get that true love will cause a war. Will cause a battle. And many pauses between the two, but no. I just don't buy that they fell in love. Perhaps I'm still absorbed with He Who Must Not Be Named not knowing love and knowing power. Maybe that's it. Maybe my mindset is that I wanted Grindelwald to be consumed with power only, not feelings. Maybe that's it. I found out later that there are 5 movies and not the trilogy so at the end of the movie I was like "oh no, there's more to come." I really liked seeing Hogwarts and I loved seeing Jacob there! Queenie still has more thinking to do on her end. She needs to sort her feelings out for Jacob. And Newt and Theseus work so damn well together! No wonder they're brothers! And yes, I do believe Albus and Aberforth are definitely brothers. The last few scenes with the two of them standing together, wow! Jude and Richard pulled that off very well! Props to casting for those choices! I wanted to know more about Newt's assistant, Bunty. I want to know more of her background. I want to know what happens to her later. Does she show up in Harry's world at all? This movie leaves so many more questions for me....

The Little Mermaid (2023)

 I'm actually glad that I took time to watch this. I am a true and die hard original animated Disney fan, so the soundtrack to the original animated "The Little Mermaid" sticks with me constantly. This movie surprised me. And pretty much set in the Caribbean. That does sound fitting for magical waters. Ursula - ok! Ok Ok I can do with this Ursula! Go Melissa McCarthy! The voice, the cadence, the look, the hand movements - even the bolero! Ok! I can definitely do with this villain! But Flotsam and Jetsam don't talk? Like, at all?  And Awkwafina...she's hysterical as Scuttle. I was apprehensive at first, cause I love the voice and cadence of Buddy Hackett, but Awkwafina adds her own twist to this. And "Scuttlebutt" - that's the song alright!  The queen is lovely! Very new and different addition to this tale. Mamma Mia!

 I already knew a lot of the songs in this movie, but this was my first time actually seeing it. So, Meryl Streep's character, Donna, loved three men the same summer she got pregnant. So who's the father? And Sophie wants her father there. But is it Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard or Colin Firth? All are really good actors and I had no idea Pierce could sing. This story is a whirlwind for Donna as well as Sophie, even to the point where she gets into an argument with her groom, Sky. Definitely a lot of fun with the two bridesmaids and the two friends of Donna's, who I didn't realize were Christine Baranski and Molly Weasley herself, Julie Walters! Over all this was a fun show and a lot of "whoops" to be sure!

Wonka

 yeah, I really enjoyed this! And not just because it had music! The story line was good, Wonka was not always treated well, and there were 7 villains, not just one! And they all worked together to keep Wonka down! But will Wonka be kept down? He cries a lot in the movie. And deservedly so. And he befriends Noodle, played by Calah Lane, who is doomed to be in the wash house for the rest of her days. There's a comedian down there, an accountant, a quiet girl and an engineer. Good people, just tricked by the Mrs. , played by Olivia Colman. Wonka is definitely a magician of sorts, but he has a love for chocolate. This is so interesting to see where he got his beginnings and the way he makes people feel along the way. And the Oompa Loompas....yes, they have their own island. Yes, they keep to themselves. And yes, if necessary, they are pretty sneaky. Hugh Grant did a great job as a long wolf Oompa-Loompa. Very funny indeed. This is definitely a film for any fan of the original Willy Wo
