Being There

What a weird movie! I sat and watched this with my husband and I didn't put my finger on Peter Sellers until the middle of the movie. I'm so used to seeing him with a mustache and a hat. I felt for his character. At first I thought he was the butler, then I thought he was the son of the old man, and then when he said he was the gardener, then I just felt for him. He loves tv. He loves to watch. That phrase alone will get him into trouble. And it does. But he doesn't grasp that knowledge. He is mind is less than a child and it's just that innocent. And he's lucky! Kicked out of his home, which is surrounded by the ghetto, gets threatened by a group of black boys, even asks another black woman if she would give him lunch. If she had, it would have been a totally different movie. But one accident changes things for him forever. He's is really, really REALLY lucky! Shirley MacLaine is the early Sally from "When Harry Met Sally". I can't believe that o

How to Frame a Figg

This was a very cute movie! Poor Don Knotts is given a promotion and then framed so that the upper men in the company can keep their embezzlement money. And Don Knotts has a very loyal girlfriend and a very loyal male friend. It's an interesting wild ride and the movie doesn't seem very long but yeah, I feel for Don Knotts. It's hard when you're framed for something you didn't do but you found out about fraud and thought you told the right people. No good deed and all...

Better Off Dead

Very 80s. This was such an 80s movie. And I grew up totally in love with John Cusack but I had never seen this movie before. For me, his friend, Charles, was just useless. Just totally useless. And Monique: I figured she spoke English. I was just waiting to see what was gonna happen to Ricky. And Beth: I soooo wanted something bad to happen to Beth! Really, really did. But the music in the movie was really good. Especially the Howard Jones song "Like To Get To Know You Well." Love him! So yeah, I'm glad I saw it and I'm glad I don't have to see it again.

The Love God?

I've never heard of this movie and this was just hysterical! And who would have thought that Don Knotts could throw a punch! My husband and I watched this tonight and it's just, so funny! Very 1960s in the fashion and the hair and the music... and Don Knotts? A Love God? Oh wow, what a miscommunication!!!!

The Reluctant Astronaut

What a fun movie!!! I've never seen this before today! Don Knotts is hysterical and he's got a fear of heights! Starts off with his dad putting in an application for him at the space center and he gets a job as a janitor. Then it just gets crazier from there! I do like that the movies I've seen him in he has a love interest and they are always pretty strong women to his weak and crazy male with good luck! This is a must see for those that love Don Knotts!

The Big Easy

This was on my list and I forgot who told me to watch it. It wasn't too bad, but it's not a very long movie. I had to ask out to my Louisiana friend about the word "Cher" as I wasn't sure if it was short for "Cherie" since Louisiana has a lot of French influence. The detective had an interesting background and I was glad the outcome wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Corrupt police have been a focal point in a lot of movies in my growing up years. And for the lady D.A., I think she was, that was sent down to New Orleans to investigate finds more than what she was bargaining for with this good-looking man. All in all, it was a good movie. And it was good to see a young John Goodman doin' his thing!

Ben-Hur (2010)

I probably should have started with the original Ben-Hur with Charlton Heston, but I rented this one instead. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be and the music at the end was so modern it threw me from the time and place of the movie. It was pretty bloody, the whole thing, and the fights and the brothers and all... but I do get the Christian message. I would like to see the original Ben-Hur now, just to see a comparison.

The Guardian Brothers

Surprisingly enough I saw this movie while looking for the Addams Family animated movie. I watched the entire thing and it was really, really well done! I had no idea Mel Brooks and Meryl Streep did an animated movie together. The premise of the movie was something you don't find in America that often. And the little girl was important to the movie, but EVERYONE was important! It's definitely worth a view! https://www.netflix.com/title/80177834
