Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F

Just on a whim, I decided to put this movie on as we ate dinner. Within 10 minutes my husband and I were laughing. The music was good, reminiscent of the 80s "Beverly Hills Cop" soundtrack, the cameos were fantastic, everyone a little older now, and there was a lot of excitement and adventure. The beginning of the movie shows Axel in Chicago, being himself and getting into trouble. But he always comes through for the boys in blue. But over in California, someone gets into trouble, someone is threatened, and his friend, Billy, calls Axel to let him know. Usually, Axel will just give advice or listen or both, but when it's his daughter, Axel heads out west again. But who is threatening his daughter? And why? And will the trio get back together again to solve a new mystery? And can they all stay alive? It was a great trip down memory lane and a wonderful introduction to new characters as well. Those who enjoyed the first movies will love seeing Eddie Murphy, John Ashton, Ju...

Holidate

hehehhe ok, I honestly just put this movie on to have something in the background while I was cooking dinner. Lo and behold, my husband sat down on the futon and started watching it and laughing uncontrollably. This girl has a mom trying to get her into a relationship, any relationship. And she's got an Aunt who loves any male at all. The leading lady, Emma Roberts, who plays Sloane, runs into Luke Bracey, who plays Jackson Pieretti, with one of the sexiest Aussie accents ever. These two agree to be each other's dates every holiday. And I mean EVERY holiday in the U.S. But Jackson states he's not interested in her, not seriously, and so Sloane goes along with it. But what happens when some else is interested in Sloane? And what happens when Jackson sleeps with someone else? Does it matter? They aren't in a relationship. They're in an agreement. There is so much fun profanity in this movie and so many fun little scenes, I was pleasantly surprised. Aunt Susan, played...

The Knight Before Christmas

Every once in a while, my husband and I find little movies about Christmas that are not main stream. This was one of them. "The Knight Before Christmas" was a cute tale of magic, being in one time, being sent into another time, and finding love when and where you didn't expect it. Brooke, played by Vanessa Hudgens, is a working girl in our time. She is living her life and loving her sister and her niece. Sir Cole, played by Josh Whitehouse, is in another time with his brother and another life. He meets an old crone who sends him off on a magical quest that must be fulfilled before Midnight on Christmas Eve or he will never be a true knight. Sir Cole finds himself in Brooke's time. He is a Knight out of time, with flying steel boxes and magical small boxes that have pictures and sound. He ends up helping the whole family and falling for Brooke. But will he stay in her time to love her? Or will he go back to his time and fulfill his original destiny? It's a special...

Wake Up, Dead Man, A Knives Out Mystery

Wow! Wow and wow! This was my 2nd favorite next to the original "Knives Out". A priest is re-assigned to a place he never could have been prepared for: the devil is alive and well in the church, on the grounds, in the people and in the plans. Josh Brolin plays Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, the local head priest and "God" to most folks. They don't jump unless he says "how high." There are only a select number of parishioners that stick with his word, as the rest of the congregation is slowly run out by his sermons. But there's a deeper mystery here and Josh O'Connor, who plays Jud Duplenticy, wasn't supposed to be there. A sermon happens, the Monsignor falls, and there is a murder in the church in front of witnesses. So who did it? Or was it more than one person? Or did one person make it look like it was more than one person? So much is going on in this story and then...cops show up. Geraldine Scott, played by Mila Kunis, calls up a professio...

Wicked: For Good

It wasn't bad. It wasn't as good as the first movie, but it wasn't bad. Elphaba is in rare form and fantastic as she flies around with her agenda: to free the animals who could have spoken and give them freedom. They need to be back in Oz society. But she's the evil one. She is the one the people are against. But really, she's not. And she has allies. Cynthia Erivo has a wonderful voice, a very straight Alto voice, but she's not spectacular. She's good. And her acting skills are top notch. It's just that in my past theater experience, I have witnessed women with better voices for that role. But Cynthia is believable as Elphaba. And her love for Glinda as her best friend/sister in life is also believable. I believed their love. I believed the sisterhood that they had. And Ariana Grande proves a very self-absorbed and emotionally torn Glinda. And Elphaba is not the bad one here: the Wizard needs to prove himself a good guy, a guy doing the right thing f...

The Bad Guys 2

I really liked this movie. Not as much as the first one, but yeah, I enjoyed it. Mostly because what I thought was going to happen, didn't. Lots of plot twists. These guys can not catch a break! Like ever. But they want to protect their friend, Snake. Snake is in love with a bird and this could not be the best thing in the world for him. And the friends all think Snake is involved in Bad things. Stolen things. Cause he's good at it. And what if the bird friend is in on it? What will they do? Plus they have the Commissioner on their tails about all the robberies going on. They promise the Commissioner that they'd help. But it just gets them into trouble. Will Governor Diane Foxington, played by Zazie Beetz, help them out? What if there are others involved? Will they be able to make the world believe they're good instead of bad? I love the animation and I love the voices, especially Awkwafina ( I totally wanna talk to her agent). Definitely worth a 2nd viewing.

The Gambler: Part 3, The Legend Continues

Out of all the Gambler movies, I just didn't care for this one. No poker playing, no real gambling other than with each other's lives and the lives of people...it just didn't have that "gambler" feeling to it. Brady and Billy meet up with Buffalo Bill, played by Jeffrey Jones and travel a little bit to find Brady's friend, Chief Sitting Bull, played by George American Horse. But tensions are high between the American soldiers, the Senator Henry Colton played by Charles Durning and lots of lovely ladies in the wild west who share secrets and spread the news of the government buying up Indian land and giving the Native America tribes a bad deal. And there's murder. Don't forget - there's murder. Granted, Kenny Rogers and Bruce Boxleitner are in almost every scene and things get so deep with the plot, but it's just not a Western feel for me. I'll just have to not recommend this one out.
